Her Excellency Yasmin Busran-Lao is the Secretary (Minister) of the National Commission on Muslim Filipinos, Office of the President, Republic of the Philippines. Her office serves as the premier agency that assists the President on issues affecting the Muslim Filipino community including the prescription of rules for the establishment of Awqaf and viable economic platform that promotes and develops economic livelihood programs and projects through the extension of loans, entrepreneurship, trade, and marketing assistance to the members of Muslim Filipino Communities. She earlier serves as Undersecretary (Deputy Minister) in her capacity as Special Assistant on Muslim Concerns in the same office and member of the Philippine negotiating panel in the signed Comprehensive Agreement on the Bangsamoro (CAB) between the Government of the Philippines (GPH) and the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF).
Sec. Busran-Lao championed the rights and development of the full potential of women in various capacities as educator, researcher, development practitioner and advocate. Other than heading several development organizations in her province Lanao del Sur and the Philippine archipelago at large, she currently serves as the Philippine Focal Person for the ASEAN Progressive Muslim Movement. She is a member of the United Nations-Civil Society Advisory Council (UN-CSAC) and the International Visitors Program of the US Fellowship Program.
She further holds degree in Psychology, Advanced studies and Certificate in Clinical-Counseling Psychology, Islamic Studies Muslim Personal Laws, and Colloquium in Far Eastern University, Ateneo de Manila University, University of the Philippines Mindanao State University and Harvard School of Government.
