PROF. DR. FAQIR MUHAMMAD ANJUM
Prof. Dr. Faqir Muhammad Anjum (Tamgha-i-Imtiaz) holds two PhD degrees one from Kansas State University, USA and other from University of Agriculture, Faisalabad, Pakistan. He has 38 years of teaching and research experience. He is presently working as Director, Institute of Home & Food Sciences, Government College University, Faisalabad, Pakistan. He is a member of Punjab Halal Development Agency, Government of Punjab. He is internationally recognized food scientist with numerous highly impacted publications (232), research projects (16) and books published (20 books and 2 proceedings). He has served the University of Agriculture, Faisalabad in the capacity of Professor/ meritorious Professor/Chairman of Food Technology Department. He was founding Director, Institute of Food Science & Technology from 2003 to 2007 and founding Director General, National Institute of Food Science and Technology, from 2007 to 2013. During his tenure he has made untiring and dedicated efforts to raise status of food science discipline in Pakistan and to introduce new graduate and post graduate degree programs in Human Nutrition and Dietetics, Food Safety & Quality Management and Dairy Technology. He is also President of Pakistan Society of Food Scientist & Technologists. He won many prestigious awards i.e. Tamgha-i-Imtiaz, APO National Award, HEC Best University Teacher Award, Quaid-e-Azam Gold Medal Award & Pride of Performance. He was decorated Gold Medal from Pakistan Society of Food Scientist and Technologist (PSFST) on the occasion of Silver Jubilee. He has established Extrusion Centre in University of Agriculture, Faisalabad under Pak-US Joint Program. He has also provided services to international and national organizations i-e USAID, UNIDO, GAIN and MI as coordinator, facilitator, advisor and consultant. He has produced 37 Ph.D. scholars and 116 M.Sc. (Hons) students as a major supervisor in his discipline.
